No shop states these. We looked them up ourselves, and we say when.
- Does Linux run on the refurbished version of this laptop?
- Linux runs on this laptop, with something not working. Researched by us, 21 October 2026.
โWorks out of the box with Linux 4.16 and above, except for the models without Touch Bar, which still suffers from a bug and needs an additional patch as noted in https://github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux/issues/29#issuecomment-371370548โgithub.com
- Can the RAM in this laptop be upgraded?
- The RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Researched by us, 21 October 2026.
โUnfortunately there isnโt a single thing inside this Mac which could be upgraded, even if you had proper soldering equipment. The T2 security chip is paired with the storage on the computer, and device components on the logic board are signed. This makes it far more difficult to repair, and absolutely impossible to replace the storage modules on this Mac. In addition, there are absolutely no ways to upgrade the RAM โ this is also onboard, soldered.โlowendmac.com
